THE HISTORY OF THE HISTORIC PORT ROYAL FOUNDATION
We began in 1976 as the Port Royal Bicentennial Historical Committee (PRBHC), founded and chaired by Emily Bishop, Port Royal’s longest serving (30+ years) postmaster. The PRBHC’s focus was to plan and implement the 1976 Bicentennial celebration of Port Royal and to establish long-range goals that would perpetuate Port Royal’s historical data . Once these goals were established and the Bicentennial celebration complete, the committee dissolved and phased into the Historic Port Royal Foundation (HPRF).
