VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

The Historic Port Royal Foundation seeks volunteers from all backgrounds – not just those who have specific interest in history – to handle a variety of projects. The museum has opportunities for volunteers to get involved with local events; facilitating experiences, working with specific audiences, providing customer service, supporting administrative tasks, and more. For more information, call (843) 524-4333.

 

DOCENTS

  • Greet guests – lots of interesting people come in to the museum!
  • Give tours of the museum research
  • 10 hours of formal training required with lead docent
  • 2 days per month minimum commitment required

Days/Times Needed: Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays (10am – 3pm)

 


RESEARCH / SCRAPBOOKING

Under the direction of the museum curator:

  • Conduct research activities on behalf of the Historic Port Royal Foundation
  • Prepare scrapbooks on a variety of topics using HPRF archival materials
  • Attention to detail!
  • 2 days per month minimum commitment required

Days/Times Needed: Thursdays (Times flexible between 10am – 3pm)

 


CATALOGUER

  • Enter collection items & descriptions into the catalog database, under the direction of the Executive Director
  • Attention to detail & working knowledge of MS Excel

Days/Times Needed: TBD as available

 


EVENTS

  • Sell tickets and refreshments and other items at events such as festivals, Street Music and other events
  • Event Coordination, set up and clean up

Days/Times Needed: Varied / Flexible
